History of Silicon Valley
Silicon Valley is located in Santa Clara Valley, which until the early decades of the 20th century was known as the “Valley of Heart’s Delight.” After the Second World War, the valley experienced a housing and population boom. Already the base of many US Navy research and development facilities, it drew even more electronic and aerospace firms and these, coupled with the presence of Stanford University and its many engineering graduates, began spearheading technological innovations that would eventually turn the Valley of Heart’s Delight into the Silicon Valley.
It’s hard to imagine that the valley floor, now the site of the majority of Silicon Valley real estate, used to be draped with farms and orchards. Ever since the phrase “Silicon Valley” was first used in 1971, however, the region has never looked back.
From innovations in radio, television, and military electronics, Silicon Valley eventually produced the home computer that would revolutionize not just the economy, but all aspects of society in general. More recently, Silicon Valley has retained its stature thanks to its continuous developments in computing software and internet services.
The excitement has never left the air in Silicon Valley and this atmosphere of potential and possibility is one of the things that fuel the demand for Silicon Valley homes for sale. This is where the future is, after all.
