Area Parks and Trails
There’s no place else in Santa Clara County that offers so many outdoor recreation options as the West Valley. Your Monte Sereno, California Realtors at Team Ardizzone & Howmiller know this for a fact and it’s one of the reasons why they live here themselves.
Whatever your interests, you can always find something to do in and around Monte Sereno – just ask your Monte Sereno, California Realtor. Lexington Reservoir is a scenic 960-acre park and reservoir that can be cruised in a rowboat, sailboard or electric powered boat. Although swimming is not allowed, fishing for black bass, crappie, catfish and blue gill is permitted here, as well as in nearby Vasona Lake, which is part of the 151-acre Vasona County Park – a popular spot for picnics, hiking, and sports.
Open year-round, Vasona Lake is open for non-power boating, and you can rent paddleboats and rowboats on site. A bit further away is Sanborn County Park, comprised of nearly 4,000 acres heavily wooded by redwoods and tan bark oak. Sanborn offers hiking, tent camping, RV camping and picnic facilities throughout the year.
For an even bigger dose of the outdoors, head further west to the Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The oldest of all California state parks, Big Basin extends over an area of approximately 18,000 acres, from the Santa Cruz Mountains all the way to the Pacific. It has a vast array of habitats, including ancient, towering redwood forests, and more than 80 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails.
