Parks, Trails and the Outdoors
Wherever you may be in Los Gatos, you can be sure that there’s a trail, park or open space nearby. The outdoors and its close proximity to Los Gatos, California real estate defines the town’s distinct lifestyle and contributes largely to its appeal. Who wouldn’t want to live, after all, in a community once known as “the Gem of the Foothills,” and which still very much lives up to that name today.
Winding through the center of town is Los Gatos Creek and running parallel along it is the 9.7-mile Los Gatos Creek Trail. The trail follows the course of the creek from the Lexington Reservoir all the way to San José. In Los Gatos, it can be accessed through East Main Street at College Avenue, Miles Avenue, Oak Meadow Park and Vasona County Park. The trail is a favorite amongst hikers, runners, cyclists, equestrians and wildlife lovers. Vasona Lake County Park sprawls over 150 acres right in the center of town, just a few minutes from University Avenue.
Other parks that link up to more trails and open spaces are Belgatos Park, which leads to the Santa Rosa and Heintz Open Spaces; and Novitiate Park, which has access to the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District’s trails that lead to the 270-acre St. Joseph’s Hill and the Limekiln Trail.
